Chain-of-custody certification

Documented FSC® sourcing for eligible packaging

FSC chain-of-custody certification provides a documented framework for tracing forest-based materials through the supply chain. An approved FSC label may be used on a finished printed product when the material, sourcing route, production process and artwork meet the applicable requirements.

Mix

FSC Mix

Applies to products made with a combination of material from FSC-certified forests, recycled material and/or FSC controlled wood in accordance with the applicable FSC sourcing system.

Recycled

FSC Recycled

Applies to products made with verified recycled material under the FSC system and identifies a certified recycled-content sourcing route.

100%

FSC 100%

Applies to material sourced entirely from FSC-certified forests and communicates a certified forest-origin claim.

Business relevance

A documented basis for responsible-material communication

FSC certification can support procurement policies, retailer requirements, export documentation and responsible-material communications. By linking an approved label to a documented chain of custody, it provides a more specific basis for communicating sourcing information.

FSC requirements should be confirmed at project initiation, before paper or board selection and artwork approval.
